If you want to enroll into a University/college, high school, private elementary school, seminary, conservatory or another academic institution like a language training program then you should apply for a F1 Visa. If you want to accompany the F1 Visa holder as their spouse or their child, then you should apply for the F2 Visa. If you are going to the US for a short amount of time, then a visitor Visa (B) would be suited the most for you.
